At the end of each visit with the neurologist they hand me a few papers that say what medicine Phillip is on, what we changed (if anything) during the appointment, etc. I don't typically read over them because - well, I was there for the actual appointment and know what happened, etc.
Anyway, I pulled out the papers from this past visit and found the answer to a question I had been planning to ask!
My question was - does Phillip have a certain "type" of epilepsy. I have seen so many people on E groups saying they have frontal lobe E or they have partial E, etc and I didn't know if Phillip had a "type" because he always has so many different types of seizures. BUT he does have a classification and its: Complex Partial Epilepsy, Intractable.
If your arent sure what complex Partial means- go to his epilepsy page and it explains complex partial seizures there.
Intractable however isn't covered (at least I don't remember covering that) - but it means that his E is uncontrolled even with medication and medical interventions.
I am glad I looked at that page! I have glanced before but never read over the whole thing... I guess that will teach me, huh?
Also, since I have your attention- I always think that Phillip is doing OK growth wise, and then I see him next to other kids his age (and sometimes younger) and BOY am I kidding myself! I have proof now that I am not just comparing him to boys that are naturally taller, bigger boys. For height he is only 9th percentile (at 4'8") and his weight is only 12th percentile (at 78 lb 14oz) So yea, he's a little guy. I wonder if he will have a growth spurt soon and catch up a bit to the national average? Time will tell....Thanks for reading and for your thoughts and prayers! God Bless you and yours and DONT FORGET TO WEAR YOUR PURPLE AND SUPPORT EPILEPSY AWARENESS !!!!
